Necromancy is the newest combat skill in RuneScape 3, released in 2023. It has revolutionized the combat meta due to its power, accessibility, and engaging mechanics. This guide covers everything from starting the skill to using Necromancy for end-game bossing. ## Getting Started To begin Necromancy, you must complete the 'Spirit of War' quest, which can be started by speaking to Death in the City of Um. The quest is accessible to all accounts and takes approximately 20 minutes. ### The Basics - Necromancy uses Conjures and Incantations - Your power scales with Necromancy level and gear tier - The skill uses a unique 'Essence' resource system - Talents are unlocked through the talent tree ## Training 1-120 ### 1-20: Tutorial and Early Combat Complete the tutorial tasks. Kill ghosts and skeletons in the City of Um. This takes roughly 30 minutes. ### 20-40: Burthorpe Trolls Use basic Necromancy attacks. You unlock the first conjure (Ghost) at level 20. ### 40-60: Abyss / Grotworms Begin using area-of-effect abilities. Upgrade to tier 50 weapons. The Skeleton conjure (level 40) helps with damage. ### 60-80: Waterfiends / Hellhounds Your Zombie conjure (level 60) provides tanking. Use tier 70 tank or power armour. ### 80-99: Elite Dungeon 3 Trash Runs Fantastic for Necromancy XP. Great money (alchables, salvage). Group up for faster clears. ### 99-120: Rasial or Hermod Rasial offers 40M+ gp/hr while training. Hermod provides consistent XP at lower difficulty. Use tier 90+ weapons. ## Gear Progression Level 1-20: Basic Necromancy, Skeletal Level 20-40: Ghost Hunter Level 40-60: Tier 50 weapons, Skeletal (upgraded) Level 60-80: Tier 70 (Kili), Tank/Power Level 80-99: Tier 80 (Kili), Power (T80) Level 99-120: Rasial's weapons, Tier 90+ ## Bossing with Necromancy Necromancy excels at most RS3 bosses: - Rasial: The Necromancy-specific boss - best money in RS3 - Hermod: Tier 80 boss, good for learning - Telos: Necromancy simplifies mechanics - Kerapec: Excellent with Necromancy's burst damage - Zamorak: Conjures help manage the boss's mechanics ## Tips and Tricks - Always keep your conjures active during combat - Use the 'Living Death' ultimate for burst damage - Upgrade your gear through Kili's row tasks - Vampyrism aura works well with Necromancy - Use Darkness incantation for reduced damage taken
